Sunlake High School senior, Angelina Gonzalez, added her own unique flair to the campus by painting her senior parking spot. The tradition, embraced by many high schools across the country, allows seniors to leave a personal mark as they prepare for their final year. For Angelina, the experience was more than just a fun activity; it was a way to commemorate her high school journey and her final year of athletic competition.
“I’m so excited for my senior year, especially for all the senior activities!” Angelina shared with enthusiasm. The excitement was palpable as she described the process of painting her spot, which became a special project involving her mother. “Painting my spot was a long and hot process, but completely worth it,” she said, reflecting on the effort it took to bring her vision to life.
With her mother by her side, Angelina spent around five hours creating a design that symbolizes her senior year and her athletic career. “I painted something to represent each season as a tie-in to my senior season,” she explained. The artwork was inspired by her reflection on this being her last opportunity “…to break records, be with [her] team, and compete, so [she] decided to commemorate this last season.”
As she painted, Angelina couldn’t help but notice the artistry around her. “I remember walking around and being wowed by everyone’s creativity and talent!” she recalled. The tradition not only allowed her to express her own creativity, but also connected her with the broader senior class as they shared in this memorable experience. With her senior parking spot now complete, Angelina’s design will serve as a daily reminder of her high school journey and the milestones she hopes to achieve in her final year.
