Starting her Senior Year this month at Sunlake High School, Cadyn Larscheid steps into Campus ready to take on the day and refreshed from summer break.
This year, Cadyn spent a good portion of her summer vacation on a trip to Savannah, Georgia. In particular, frequenting Savannah’s world-renown historic district(s), “We went on a lot of Ghost tours.” In addition to that, Ms. Larscheid also spent a week in Madeira beach, Florida.
As pleasant as her Summer was, Ms. Larscheid is no slacker and is jumping right into her school work. A great boon considering that she is currently a prominent member of the Yearbook Team, which she was proud to enunciate, “I am a photo assistant editor. I take photos and I tell people to take photos for me. I edit them. I put them in the yearbook.” Cadyn started her journey to yearbook staff as an underclassman who took Digital Design One and was later recommended to be put on yearbook, where she is currently an editor.
Besides yearbook, Cadyn is also a participant in this year’s senior skit. She mentioned that prior to her junior year she used to be far more active in extracurricular activities.”But ever since I started working,” she explained. “I’d rather do that instead of just doing other things because honestly I think that working is more important than clubs or having fun.” At the moment Ms. Larscheid is employed at Publix Super Markets Inc. where she assists in bagging groceries.
Outside of the usual routine, Cadyn also has a wide range of various different interests. Truly fitting for a Photo Assistant Editor, Ms. Larscheid is very passionate about photography, “I just like taking pictures,” she says with a grin.” I’m not the best at it but it’s honestly one of my favorite things to do.” Aside from photographic endeavors, Ms. Cadyn also indulges in other activities, admitting that she is “a big Lego Person”. She explains that she’s always “liked building things.”
This is something that apparently extends beyond a simple hobby, “I want to be an architect and minor in interior design and business,” She intends to combine all of these disciplines into a profitable career, “I’ll probably get my own real estate license and own my own business while making housing and selling them.” When asked about her motivation behind the her interest in construction, design, and architecture, she simply cites her love of puzzles,”The process of putting things together, the challenge of it. Even the Yearbook, that’s something. Putting things together, even though it’s more intellectual and not hands on.”
When asked about how she feels about the coming school year and the thought of spending the next few months at Sunlake High School, Ms. Larscheid hesitates.”Honestly I can’t wait to get out of here”, She confesses.”High School was fun, but I’m looking forward to a new chapter in my life.”
In regards to her direct plans after high school, Ms. Cadyn says that she is still not quite sure about where she is going. “I know I’m going to go to college,” She explains. ” I just don’t know which one yet.” She adds that she definitely wants to go to an in-state college, and is currently in the process of trying to qualify for the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.
However, wherever she ends up going, it’s a relief to hear that she won’t be alone. She already has plans to stay near the people closest to her,”I have plans to go get a dorm with any college me and my best friend choose, because we’re going to get a dorm together.” She can barely contain the excitement in her voice,”College is going to be super fun for me.” However in the present, Cadyn Larscheid seems quite eager to continue her studies and is positioned to have a great final year at Sunlake High School.
