Summer has come to an end, the 2024-2025 school year is in full swing, and homecoming is just around the corner. This is the time of the year that all of the students at Sunlake get start preparing to participate in events for the exciting week filled with lots of dancing, dressing up, and most importantly powderpuff. For this special occasion, the football players aren’t the only ones that will have a game that week. Girls from all four classes in the school compete against each other in a game of flag football, and the boys are the cheerleaders. Senior, Sofia Perez is planning to participate in the powderpuff game, and she shared a little about her experience preparing for this year’s game. Sofia stated, “I decided to do powderpuff because it’s fun every year I do it, and it’s such a good way to start off the year.” Some girls that are on the powderpuff team have been on it every year, and for others, this will have been their first year participating. This is Sofias fourth year being on the team and she seems to engoy it. She said that her favorite part of the practices is, “probably when we get to scrimmage.” When it comes to the question of whether they will win or not, Sofia is confident that the seniors will sweep the rest of the teams. She exclaimed “We won last year, and we’ll do it again!”
