Alana Serrano, a Senior at Sunlake High School, spent her time one sunny Saturday painting the parking lot with a many other seniors. Painting the parking lot is an activity every senior at Sunlake has the opportunity to do. The parking spaces are completely customizable with the ability to paint whatever you would like, which shows your personality and who you are, the only limit being that it must be appropriate for school. The school allowed two days to paint (August 3rd and August 17th). Alana decided to decorate her space with a picture of the ocean. Altogether, the painting took roughly eight hours. Alana loves the ocean and that is what inspired her. The people who helped her paint her masterpiece were her family and a few of her friends. “My favorite part of painting my parking spot was listening to music and having my friends and family there,” says Alana. The two days she spent out there were extremely hot, so lots of shade and water was needed. Alana states, “We brought water with us and a tent for shade to protect us from the heat. The first day it was sunny but later in the day it started to rain, which I got worried that our hard work would be damaged, but when we went the second day it was fine, and we finished.”
