Evanee Rodriguez is a junior at Sunlake high school that took part in Sunlake’s PBIS spirit week, showing her excitement by dressing up as a volleyball player. Volleyball holds a really special place in her heart, as she uses it as an outlet for her emotions during challenging times, turning it into something positive. “I really like volleyball because it’s really fun and whenever I feel down I use it as way to express myself,” Evanee said. Her journey with volleyball began in the 8th grade, and since that time she has fell in love with the sport.
“Whenever I was really upset, I would go outside to play volleyball and eventually I started to make teams,” she shared. Over the years, her dedication to playing volleyball has only grown. She was looking forward to Wednesday’s theme so she could show her favorite sport through her outfit. “It’s really grown my mindset into becoming a better, stronger person and has distracted me from hard things in life,” she stated. Through volleyball, Evanee has found a passion and a way of coping.
