Incoming Freshmen Maryanne Gash attended Freshmen Orientation on August first. Freshmen Orientation is when hundreds of new students get a tour of the school and walk around the gym to look at all the different clubs and teams out there, so that they are aware of the many opportunities. Maryanne exclaimed, “I really wanted to get to know the school a little more. I had no idea where anything was or anything about the school before orientation, and I am glad for the little tour and getting to know a bit more about different opportunities that were offered.” Freshmen Orientation can can start off the social part of high school in positive ways. Maryanne expressed, “Freshman orientation was good and organized! It was a little long and not all of it was too exciting but it was great to see all the familiar faces after the summer time and going into high school knowing that I wouldn’t be alone, and that we are all in this together.” She is on the Sunlake cheer team and Key Club. She thought Key Club had great advertising for certain volunteering. She wanted to join the Future Business Leaders of America, which is a club offered at Sunlake, and the set up in the gym for this club automatically grasped her attention. The president of the club did an absolutely amazing job presenting all the ideas about the club and the opportunities it offers. She did not officially join the club because of her busy schedule, but is still considering it and it will definitely be on her to do list for tenth grade. August 1st was not only an important day but also special day for all freshmen or new Seahawks, as they got to have this learning experience and set them up for a fantastic first year as a Seahawk.
