Becoming a freshman and transitioning from middle school to high school can be scary, but through clubs and sports you can find things you love to do and enjoy. Georgia was able to talk about weightlifting to the incoming freshman during freshman orientation. She said, “I think it’s fun, and I want to help these freshman love this sport the way I do!” Georgia talked about how practices and meets work and how close the team is. Georgia got into weightlifting through her older sister. She said, “When I saw how fun it was to be around such a close group of people, I really wanted to stick with it and pick my limits.” Georgia is the captain of the weightlifting team and is excited to bring a lot of new freshman to the team to help them achieve their goals and grow passion and love for this sport just like she has. Georgia says, “Being a Captain makes me feel like I can give back to the team that has helped me through high school the most.” She loves being there and loves helping anyone on the team that may need it. Georgia’s goals for the team this year are bringing 11-13 girls to state and to win state. She said, “It’s been done before, and I think this year we have very good chances of doing it again!” There are so many clubs and sports like the weightlifting team where you can connect with people and find things that you enjoy doing.
