This Labor day, Sunlake High School junior, Alexa Cadenas celebrated by spending her time at the beach in Sarasota. She left for the beach on Sunday along with her two friends, Brooke and Yaz, which she’s known since elementary school, “They’re literally family” Alexa said. She also went with her Dad’s side of the family. She stayed at a hotel with a beach front, she said, “It looked old like the elevator was really creaky, we thought we were going to die, but other than that it was pretty good.” During the day they went to the beach and laid out in the sun, went in the ocean and “got crashed by the waves,” Alexa exclaimed. Surprisingly their umbrella flew away as they were just relaxing on the grainy sand. During sunset, they brought chairs and beach towels back to the beach and stargazed for about thirty minutes, then walked back to their hotel, which was about one minute away from the beach they were staying on. When asked what Labor Day means to her, she responded, “I believe that it is very important to celebrate the achievements of American workers, because a lot of people work hard and we need to celebrate their hard work.” Overall she had an exciting time on Labor Day weekend, celebrating with her friends and family about the hard workers of America.
