Sunlake High Schools very own Christopher Claudio has been participating in band for all four years, but has played trumpet for, “the last eight years.” Christopher says he, “grew up listening to a lot of Duke Ellington,” and a lot of blues and jazz, so it was always, “a presence in life.” His favorite band performance was the 2023-2024 Music Performance Assessment because it was, “really a test of how well [he] could preform with the whole ensemble.” Being in the band has influenced Christophers high school experience by, “giving [him] a home”. He further explains how it gives him a place to, “unwind,” and, “be himself,” creating a big, “sense of belonging,” for him. Christophers advice for anyone joining band is to just, “stick to it. A lot of people join band just for the fine arts credit without actually have an appreciation for music, and you cannot succeed within something without a passion for it.” Christopher further explains, “music is about the journey and shaping that journey into something that can be felt.” Christophers passion for music and band not only drives himself, but also other band members.
