Earlier this quarter, hundreds of seniors arrived to school hours before the bell rang in order to participate in Sunlake High School’s time-honored tradition of witnessing the sunrise over school grounds. Taking place on the very first day of school for over several years now, this tradition is symbolic of the beginning of the end of a student’s time at Sunlake High School and brings each of their respective Seniors closer together. This year, Lynn Radd, a member of our current senior class, was among them.
That day, Lynn made sure to wake up very early and put a lot of thought into her outfit for the occasion. She stated, “I dressed up in white because I just feel like that’s a really good color for like sunrise, you know, it’s a bold color.” Lynn wasted no time getting to work, and she, “… made sure to go really early so I could get a bunch of pictures with my friends,” recounting that she was so busy taking pictures that she completely forgot to indulge in the complementary breakfast offered to seniors at the event. In the end, she concludes that she had a lot of fun at the event. “The sunrise wasn’t that wonderful, but we still got some really good photos there, and I got to see all my friends,” she adds, “it was a good first day.”
When asked about her vision for her future, Lynn stated that she has big plans. She currently plans on on “going to USF for nursing” and hopes to someday become an emergency medical nurse. Until then however, she is perfectly content to enjoy her final year at Sunlake High School. “I’m really excited. I love all the spirit events we have planned. I love games and all the other fun senior things we get to do,” explained Lynn.
