This month, representatives from a nearby location of Blaze Pizza Company ran a promotional event that involved passing out coupons during lunches on school campus. Blaze Pizza is unique chain restaurant that specializes in serving customizable, fast-fired miniature Pizzas. With a location less than a mile away, it has become quite a popular spot among both faculty and students alike. In honor of the promotional event, students decided to share stories to the Talon about their experience at Blaze Pizza.
Great Place for Studying
Sophomore, Avery Sap says that, despite only having been to Blaze Pizza once before this interview, She thinks of the restaurant as, “really good,” and has fond memories of the place.
“Definitely good pizza.” Sap remarked, “And they had a really good dessert.” She claims to have visited the Sunlake Blaze pizza location last year with a group of friends.“We went there like pretty much all day. We just chilled and did homework and stuff. ” Sap mentioned that she also even met up with her tutor while she was there and got her math work done. “We just…you know, we ate and then we gossiped a little bit and we did some homework.”
This year, Sap plans to stay on track, have more fun with her friends, and go to Blaze Pizza more often. As for the latter of the goals, she definitely plans on going soon.“I’ll probably try a new pizza and now I got three desserts, so probably a new dessert too.“
The Perfect Hang Out Spot
Friends and seniors, Matthew Zick, Tyler Baker, and Syrus Shahmohammadi all have made tons of happy memories at Blaze Pizza.
“I went through with my family once,” Says Zick, “They got some pretty solid pizza.” Zick explains that his favorite pizza in the lineup is by far the Spicy Pizza,”I’m just a spicy kind of guy.“
“Something crazy happened,” said Baker, recalling an event that occurred at Blaze Pizza once when he was there with a different group of friends,”The line was huge, and when we were in there…This lady walked in and she was causing a scene.“
Shahmohammadi admits that he’s not too familar with Blaze Pizza,”I went there whenever they first opened up, and I had some pretty solid food. I mostly heard of them because of friends and family,” but adds, “…if I were to ever go there again, I would.”
Zick, Baker, and Shahmohammadi stated that they all intended to go to Blaze Pizza together a group during the weekend. Zick, who got a coupon for a free pizza during the promotional event, said that he was probably going to get two pizzas “just for myself.” Baker said that he’ll use his coupon to probably just get a S’more and a basic Plain Pizza, “I don’t like a ton of ingredients,” He explained. And Shahmohammadi also plans on putting his coupon to good use, “I am going to get a free dessert and enjoy it.”
Open and Friendly
Tenth graders Caitlyn Anthony and Leigh Fortunato recounted their recent visit to Blaze Pizza together one week prior to the promotional event.
“Very delicious, very… I love it. I go there every week. Very nice. I love it.” Said Anthony. Anthony says that she usually orders either the Pepperoni Pizza or the Cheese Pizza whenever she goes to Blaze, while Fortunato admits to being quite partial to Blaze pizza’s garlic bread.
Both think quite highly of the local Blaze Pizza location.“The community there is just very nice and welcoming,” says Anthony. “It’s very… just delicious. You can get anything you like, very custom. It’s just good.”
However, along with praise Anthony and Fortunato both agreed that Blaze Pizza does have a few rough edges. Oh, people get kicked out all the time!” Fortunato exclaimed. Anthony agreed with Fortunato‘s sentiment, adding that, “People are just, you know, inconsiderate sometimes, and it is embarrassing because it’s a food place.” Anthony remarked, “It’s not somewhere you need to be yelling and like, being too dramatic…It’s a place where families go to have dinner, lunch, you know?”
Nonetheless, neither person believed that any of this should deter any student or faculty member from going to grab a bite at Blaze. Both Sophmores overwhelming recommend it. As Anthony put it, “I just think it’s a great place to go if you’re really hungry for a little pizza.“
“I Go at Least Once a Month”
Juniors, Brady Lasiewski and Alex Rydelek consider themselves to be somewhat of Blaze Pizza connoisseurs.
“[The] service is always really great.” Says Rydelek, while Lasiewski adds that he personally goes at least, “once a month.” Lasiewski says that his personal favorite is the pork pizza but states that they also have “…really good soft drink options…” and says that, “…the S’mores Cookie is also very good.” Rydelek also agreed with these opinions.
Lasiewski believes that Blaze Pizza activity tries their best to have a positive impact in the area, especially with the recent promotional event.“I think it’s great what they’re doing for the kids, you know, in the community, Students that don’t have a lot of money could really use this, and I will be using my coupon.” He said.
Lasiewski stated that he intended to go as soon as the school day was over. Rydelek stated that he intended to go as soon as lunch was over.
