Senior sunrise is a very special tradition for high school students. As the sun rises, students come together to enjoy the morning together and celebrate the start of their final year. Leia Pennycooke is graduating this year, and she got the opportunity to spend her last first day of school enjoying the sunrise. “I felt happy to see my friends and excited to enter my last year,” Leia says. “It was bittersweet knowing we were growing up, but exciting entering the next chapter.”

Though waking up early was a challenge, Leia and her friends made the most out of it and planned to get there early to take photos to remember the moment. “It was cool to see all the people I grew up with get together to watch the sunrise and appreciate the moment,” she said. When looking back on this moment after graduation, she feels that it will be very nostalgic and memorable. “It always goes by so fast, like as if it was 2 days ago,” she shares. Senior sunrise gave a chance for everyone to bond and cherish the beautiful moments before moving on to the next stage in their lives.
