Skit and powderpuff are a big and exciting part of the first semester back to school. The boys and girls switch roles to experience the fun of doing the opposite thing. Senior, Elephteria Somerville is one of the students who participate in these activities. She has participated in Powderpuff since her freshman year at Sunlake High School and this is her first year doing skit. Ella said that she enjoys Powderpuff more than skit because it is more of a sport and she enjoys playing sports. At powderpuff practice, “the team goes over drills and different plays,” Ella says. Ella plays the quarterback position, so she also helps lead the drill by being the person who passes the football. When asked what her least favorite part of practice is, she said that it is, “The heat that we have to practice in,” while her favorite part of the practice is, “spending time with friends and getting to play football with them.” Many students participate in Powderpuff during their senior year to make sure that they do everything possible to make their senior year very memorable. Last year, the current seniors won Powderpuff against last year’s seniors. Ella said, “The seniors will win again this year.” With that, Ella as well as the rest of the senior team would be very happy about winning the game back-to-back for her grade.
