Recently, Junior Tangou, Senior, went on an AP Environmental Science field trip to the EMC on Friday 13, 2024. Junior said, “We collected a sample of the oysters… and also measured the water quality.” Junior explained how his day went, stating “We started the day off with a boat ride out to an island, Once we got to the island we went down to the 3 meter area to look for oysters and recorded which ones we found that were alive and dead. After that we took water samples and measured things about the ocean water, like temperature and pH.” Juniors highlight of his trip was the unexpected visit from some dolphins! “There were dolphins following our boat around and swimming in the wake of our boat, and we got out and swam after, people were saying there were sea turtles near us, but the water was too cloudy to see.” Overall for Junior it was a great experience and an amazing bonding opportunity for him, his friends, and teacher, Mrs. Hock. “I learned a lot from this trip, and had a bunch of fun too” Junior said. He had an amazing time and would love to go back again if he got the opportunity.
