On Wednesday, September 18th, the club known as FBLA(Future Business Leaders of America) hosted an interest meeting for people to learn about the club and maybe join it. FBLA is a Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that aims to prepare its members for life in the workplace, whether their workplace looks like a corporate office or a hospital. Arbina Adhikari, a senior at Sunlake High School and the president of FBLA spoke at the meeting with other club leaders. The meeting was to garner interest among the student body and also get those who already decided to be in the club more information about their future in FBLA. One interesting thing about the club is that it is a competition club so on top of offering volunteer hours to contributing members, members also have chances to win prizes and recognitions. not only that but because FBLA exists at the collegiate and international level and is a major CTSO, it is something that can be recognized by admissions officers and employers on college applications and job resumes to increase the member’s competitive edge. The president, Arbina says, “I’ve been in FBLA since my sophomore year, I enjoy being a part of the club because it has helped create connections with my fellow peers and community.” although Arbina is in FBLA and even the president, funny enough she is not majoring in business. “it may seem contradictory since I’m in the club but it is to show that that the club is not intended for those only interested in business, but those who are wanting to gain experience on further occupations.” stated Arbina. but with a great club there also comes with struggles being that it can be hard to get underclassmen to join the club. this is important because it keeps the club alive and growing. so at any grade join FBLA because it is vital to learn all the advantages that come with being in FBLA.
