During Sunlake High Schools annual Powderpuff, the seniors took the win once again. For senior Kaycie Hyde, this year’s win was especially sweet, as she has participated in Powderpuff every year since her freshman year. “This Powderpuff was different from the other ones because we were very determined to win back-to-back and weren’t going to let anyone beat us,” Kaycie said. The seniors’ dedication showed in the way they prepared for the game. Practices were not just about having fun—they were competitive and focused. The team’s coaches made sure everyone was ready, and it paid off. “The coaches were focused on making sure we were prepared and I think they did a great job because we were able to execute plays and score in the games,” she added. Kaycie noted that the atmosphere during the practices was both enjoyable and intense, with the players pushing each other to improve. The seniors’ determination and hard work led to a satisfying victory against the juniors, securing their title as champions for the second consecutive year. “My favorite part of the event was beating the juniors and winning back-to-back championships,” Kaycie shared. She went into the game confident, knowing the strength of her teammates in the Class of 2025. “I expected to win just because of the athletes that are in the class of 2025, and I knew with all those talents put together we would have an unstoppable team,” she said. The win was a fitting end to a tradition that has marked the highlights of her high school experience.
