Joshua Barnes is a senior at Sunlake who loves to play and watch football. Not to mention, Josh is super dedicated to Sunlake’s football team and his future in the sport. Josh stated, “It’s a big year for me. My plan is to get a scholarship to play football in college so I need to ball out, that’s what most of my time has gone towards. Hours each day during the offseason just training, getting better, and even during the season. The time commitment is real, but I know it will pay off.”
Josh’s favorite part about the sport is getting to play alongside friends and longtime classmates. Josh explained, “After my sophomore year, I had transferred out due to personal reasons, but whenever I was at the other school, I was missing the connections I had built with my guys at Sunlake. That was a big push during the offseason on why I came back. I have a bond with these guys that I had missed. That’s my favorite part about the team.”
Last Saturday, Sunlake took an unfortunate loss to Wiregrass High School, and Josh had thoughts about the game. “I felt the score did not reflect how the game went. I feel we played well on all sides of the ball, but Wiregrass is a tough team to go against.” Finally, Josh finished up with some inspiring words. “Bottom line is there are things that need to be cleaned up. We’ll get back to practice and we plan to bounce back against Gulf”.
