Damon Rooney is a senior at Sunlake High School and this year he decided to participate in Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is a week to promote drug awareness and drug prevention. Red Ribbon Week is filled with a bunch of different dress up days that all have to do with ending drug use. Red Ribbon Week is a great awareness week to help remind people how bad drug usage really is. On Tuesday it was “Sock it to Drugs” dress up day so everyone wore crazy socks. Damon participated in “Sock it to Drugs” day by wearing a SpongeBob sock on one foot and a Flash sock on the other foot. When Damon was asked about what “Sock it to Drugs” meant to him he stated, “I want to help stop the use and advocation of drugs.” Damon likes that Red Ribbon Week is something schools participate in and it helps to make students more aware of the dangers of drug use. When Damon was asked how he feels about Red Ribbon Week he stated, “I like the idea of Red Ribbon Week because no kids should be doing drugs because they can harm your life.” Red Ribbon Week is a great way to bring awareness to the dangers of drug use.
