Arylyn Brunton, a junior at Sunlake High School in the class of 2026, thoroughly enjoyed participating in Powderpuff this year. For her, the practices were one of the highlights, as they were filled with upbeat energy, positivity, and a strong sense of camaraderie. She said, “I honestly loved Powderpuff! the practices are upbeat, positive and fun even if it’s super hot out.” The competitive nature of Powderpuff added an exciting edge to the experience, keeping her engaged and enthusiastic. Arylyn found that the thrill of competition was what truly made Powderpuff fun for her, pushing her to give her best while cheering on her friends. She stated, “Everyone is so competitive and that’s what makes it so fun.” One of Arylyn’s favorite parts of the experience was the preparation before the big game. She loved the pre-game rituals, where the team would gather to play music, eat, and get dressed in their outfits, setting the mood for a fantastic game. This time together helped build team spirit, adding to the shared excitement and anticipation of the event. She said, “I think the best part was before the game when we’re all getting ready because we play music, eat, and put on our shirts and paint.” Beyond the fun and excitement, Powderpuff also provided Arylyn with the chance to connect with new people. She made friends with teammates she hadn’t talked to before, and those new friendships became one of the most meaningful takeaways from her experience. For Arylyn, the social connections and memories created through Powderpuff are ones she’ll cherish, and she feels grateful for having been a part of such a positive and competitive environment.
