Hurricane Milton was a hard experience for Florida. Some houses were destroyed, some flooded, there was chaos in the streets as traffic lights were not working, car accidents, houses without power or water to drink, and more. However, after Hurricane Milton came, citizens did their best to repair everything and help each other. After the hurricane, there were many people volunteering to help clean up the roads, clean up destroyed houses, take waste and water out of places, take shutters down, and even re-open some businesses.
Vladyslav Neshko is a junior at Sunlake High School. Vlad usually enjoys helping people and that is exactly what he did. In his neighborhood, he helped his neighbors, especially the ones of age, before and after the hurricane. He helped them put up their shutters to prepare for the hurricane, and also take them down after the hurricane passed. Vlad helped a lot of houses and in his experience he said, “I enjoyed a lot of moments over there when I was doing this job, more than just doing it, it was a fun experience going on the roofs and helping put shutters up and take them down, since is not something you would usually do.” Taking the shutters down after a hurricane can be hard, there could be plants and branches everywhere and there is a lot to clean up especially in this hot Florida weather, but that was not a problem for Vlad as he said, “Although it was really hot, and I wanted to go home sometimes, it was still pretty fun, and I would do it again.”
