The aftermath of Hurricane Milton was utterly evident. Sophomore Taylor Schamaun had a lot of debris and damage done to her house. In the days following Hurricane Milton, Taylor and her family determined the amount of damage. When asked what specific activities she participated in, she said she removed shutters, cleaned up her yard, and cleaned up her house. When asked what challenges she faced when removing shutters she said, “the shutters fasteners were stuck due to how tight we put them on, they were difficult to maneuver and really heavy, so trying to get them off of my two story house was hard.” Taylor had metal shutters that covered all the windows on her house. With the help of her mom, and her brother, they were able to remove the shutters. Taylor was also asked how the aftermath of the hurricane affected her house and belongings, she shared “water got in through the walls in my room and my parents room, and we had to rip out the floorboards and carpet because water got in underneath.” Which is a very unfortunate for her and her family. Taylor also said, “my backyard was a mess there were plants and trees all over the place, the fence fell over, the shed fell apart and everything inside of it went all over the yard as well.” That’s a lot of damage to the backyard of her house. Taylor shared that she might have to leave her house for repairs. In the end Taylor said her and her family are okay and they are fixing all of the damage that Hurricane Milton has done to them.
