Sunlake has much to offer, including spirit weeks and dress-up days. We have Homecoming, Christmas dress up days, and the most recent, Red Ribbon week. Red Ribbon Week is a week that is used to promote living drug-free. To convey this message, students dress up for different days of the week. Wednesday was Jersey Day which is when students wear their favorite jerseys to school. A specific student wanted to share their thoughts on the day and overall the week.
Andre Carcamo is a Junior at Sunlake High School. He said, ” Oh my time at Sunlake has been good I’ve met good people and made some friends so far and the teachers I got this year are really good.” For this dress-up day Andre wore his jersey and his jersey of choice was, “[an] Atletico Madrid jersey, it was red ribbon week and the jersey was red so it worked out well.” Red Ribbon Week isn’t all about dressing up however, it’s also about spreading the message to promote drug-free lives for young people. Andre described the week as significant to him saying, ” It was good because the purpose behind it raises awareness of drugs which is something high schoolers need to be aware of and avoid.”
