Sunlake High School held their annual Trick or’ Treat Around the Track on the 26th. The event is something that the elementary and middle schoolers look forward to, with lots of candy and fun games for them to play. Most of the clubs and sports at school dedicate their time to come volunteer and give out candy to all the kids who come. One of the many clubs that was at the event was Drama club. The club had quite a lot of members volunteering, the most that have ever done the event before. Of those volunteers was the club’s president, senior Caleb Cueva. Caleb has been volunteering for the event since he was a freshman. “I’ve always done Trick or Treat Around the Track because I have three younger siblings, so it’s a nice time to give an early Halloween to the community and my siblings.” From doing the event for so many years, Caleb has developed some opinions on Trick or Treat Around the Track. “The worst moment is obviously putting the tents up and bringing them down, but my favorite moment from this year’s event was recognizing this one girl’s Percy Jackson costume, and her being so excited that someone finally recognized her,” he explained. Caleb really enjoys talking with the kids who come to the event and handing out candy because according to him, “…Kids say some really weird stuff sometimes. And it’s quite funny.” The event is really fun, Drama Club pulls out all the stops with music and decorations, which is why Caleb is disappointed that this was his last year doing the event. “Of course it’s a very small event in the big scheme of things, but it did feel a bit sad that as we were packing up everything, I realized it would be my last time doing that. Which I’m completely okay with never putting the tents up and taking them down again,” Caleb joked. While Drama Club put up quite a display during the event, there were other clubs that had cool displays as well. “NAHS had a creative display, so did yearbook… I still think ours was the best,” he said. Caleb thought that this year was a very successful trick or treat around the track, and he is happy that this run through of the event was his last one.
