At the annual Powderpuff for Sunlake’s homecoming spirit week, Noah Downey (senior) participated in the boys cheer and half time performance. Every year during homecoming week Sunlake Student Council has an event called “Powderpuff” where the girls play flag football and the boys cheer. It’s “such a great experience for everyone to enjoy” Noah said. He thinks Powderpuff is “fun for all ages, but hide your kids when it’s time for the half time performances.” Noah is referring to the flashy half time performances each grade’s cheerleaders perform to be scored. It is Noah’s fourth year participating in this annual tradition and he said he loves it because of “the people [he] meet and the memories [they] make together.” He stated, “the practices are frequent and it takes up a lot of time leading up to homecoming week so its definitely a commitment.” He would like to thank his coaches, Emma Stephens (senior) and Mackenzie King (senior), for their, “hard work and dedication they showed at practice.” Noah encourages all high schoolers to be involved, have fun and be spirited. “High school goes by too fast to not have fun”, Noah said when asked what advice he has for the underclassmen.
