Hurricane season is coming to an end and with that the passing of the biggest hurricane of the season, Hurricane Milton, came to an end as well. With the powerful category 5 hurricane approaching, many people prepared by putting shutters up, evacuating and many other things. Once the hurricane passed, many people offered help to those in need. One such person was Daniel Rakoch, a freshman at Sunlake High School. When asked what Daniel did after the hurricane he said, “Me and my friends helped people take their shutters off and made some money while doing that as well.” Before the hurricane Daniel and his family also got sandbags in case of flooding and after the hurricane he helped bring them to houses who were looking for some due to flooding. Daniels’s house did not sustain any damage from the hurricane which meant he was available to go and help out his community. Daniel said he, “loves helping around the community, this was a way to give back to many.” Daniel said that he also really enjoyed helping people out and having it as a way to hang out with his friends. In the face of nature’s worst, people like Daniel and his friends proved they could bring out the best in their community.
