Sunlake High School’s HOSA club, which stands for Health Occupations Students of America, gives students an opportunity to explore careers in healthcare and connect with others who share similar interests. For sophomore Jolynn Chen, joining HOSA has been an exciting step toward her future. “HOSA is a club where students can get some experience with the healthcare community and get an idea of what it’s like,” Jolynn explained. She decided to join because of her passion for the medical field and the classes she’s already taking. “I’m interested in going into the medical field after graduating,” she said. Although this is her first year in HOSA, Jolynn is already planning to compete at the regional level. “I haven’t competed before, but I’m looking forward to learning more through this club,” she said. During recent meetings, members have been learning about the different opportunities to compete and how they can get involved in the upcoming events. While Jolynn isn’t aware of any specific HOSA events just yet, she’s excited about what lies ahead. “I’m looking forward to meeting new people and maybe going into an officer position to further expand my leadership goals,” she shared. For Jolynn, joining HOSA is more than just participating in a club—it’s about gaining valuable experiences and preparing for her future.
