Freshman Sophia Stillitano is an active member of Sunlake’s Board Game Club, where she and her peers play a variety of games, ranging from Dungeons & Dragons to card games. Of all the games, Sophia’s favorite is Dungeons & Dragons. She first heard about the club from a friend while walking to her ELA class one day, and after learning more about it, she decided to join.
“I joined the Board Game Club because I knew one of my friends was in it, and my brother and I wanted to join too. We had originally started a Dungeons & Dragons campaign together, but it didn’t go as planned and the group kind of broke up. So, we wanted to find another group to join,” Sophia shared.
In the club, they play all sorts of games, but Sophia mainly sticks to Dungeons & Dragons. “There are other games like card games and stuff, but Dungeons & Dragons is definitely the main game we play,” she said. She has been a member since the club started and loves the experience. Getting to play with her friends after school is a highlight of her day.
“It’s a great way to make new connections with people, and it really helps with creativity, especially if you like storytelling or creative writing. You can get so many good ideas from the game,” Sophia shared. For her, being part of the Board Game Club has been an exciting way to bond with others while also expressing her creative side.
