After the recent wave of hurricanes, senior Miley Falby decided to take action and help her community by cleaning up debris left behind by Hurricanes Milton and Helene. This year marks Miley’s first at Sunlake, and when faced with the challenge and devastation caused by these back-to-back hurricanes, she stepped up to make a difference. These powerful storms were detrimental to many, leaving behind widespread damage. One of the hurricanes was so strong that it completely destroyed and tore off the roof of Tampa’s Tropicana Field, a symbol of the storm’s intensity.
Now more than ever, people are coming together to support one another in the aftermath of these disasters. During the hurricanes, Miley’s yard flooded, but, as she mentioned, “thankfully, none got inside.” Despite her own challenges, she focused on helping her neighbors who were more severely impacted by the storms. Miley spent her time cleaning up debris, removing fallen branches, and moving trashed furniture from homes where floodwaters had seeped inside.
Miley, who describes herself as someone who, “loves to help people,” found joy in contributing to the recovery efforts. She takes pride in bettering her community and being a positive influence during difficult times. Her actions have brought relief and hope to many, and she continues to inspire others with her dedication and selflessness.
