Have you thought of working as a doctor, nurse, or some job in the medical field recently? Well, did you know that Sunlake High School has a medical program for people just like you! I chose to write about this topic because I am in the Sunlake High School program, and I plan on bring in this program all throughout high school and when I graduate, I want to be in the medical field working in a hospital.
To get into Sunlake High School’s program you must sign up on a website by going onto the school website and searching “programs” then tap on “Programs and academies” scroll down and tap on “programs / academies application” and you can sign up for the medical program there. The applications open on July 1st. When applying, make sure you know that you must obtain a 2.5 GPA to stay in this program and you must be accepted.
When choosing Sunlake High School’s medial program, you learn many things in a course of 4 years. In 9th grade you start off with Biology. 10th grade teaches you how to be a basic health care worker. 11th grade 1st semester you learn how to be a nurse aide and orderly, 2nd semester teaches you how to be a patient care assistant. Then 12th grade teaches you health science directed study. While taking these courses throughout the year you can also take a 3-year program called “patient care technician” and after taking this program you can obtain a Certified medical administrative assistant (CMAA), Electrocardiograph (EKG)Technician (CET), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Patient Care Technician (CPCT), and a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT). These are all the certifications you can get by taking this 3-year program.
If you chose this Sunlake High School medical program, you could gain more career opportunities and knowledge in the medical field. This gives more career opportunities and higher chances of getting into college, and better communication skills, teamwork, and critical thinking. Hosptials also tend to be very competitive when it comes to finding the right doctor for their hospital. Which is why it’s best to have more experience when applying for jobs and enhance your resume.
In conclusion, if you are someone who would like to be in the medical field or just experience what it would be like to be a nurse/doctor, then I recommend the Sunlake High School medical program. This program enhances your thinking, understanding, and skills which are important if you see yourself as a future nurse/doctor. The certifications you earn will make your resume stand out more will all the competitive hospitals too. All these skills and certifications will give you more confidence and skills you need to excel in your future medical career.
