Thanksgiving for most is more of a relaxing family and friend day. Sophomore Giulia Peña enjoyed Thanksgiving with her family and close friends for many reasons. Giulia said, “to me Thanksgiving means coming together with the people you love and enjoying or being grateful to be able to spend time together.” On Thanksgiving she helped her mom prepare some food to bring to dinner even though the day prior they made sure they had everything they needed. Most families serve the traditional Thanksgiving food like turkey, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and stuffing and so much more flavorful food. Giulia’s favorite dish was mashed potatoes and the turkey. She got to hang out with her sister who was in town from college. Giulia and her family do not have any specific traditions for this special day, but they always spend Thanksgiving with a large amount of our family and close friends because it is not often where everyone has time to come together as a family. Thanksgiving is a day where families and friends get together to be present and show gratitude for each other. The memories her and her family made on Thanksgiving Day will last a lifetime and are forever important.
