Who is Coach Stambek? He is a teacher at Sunlake high school. He teaches forensics and he is the head coach of the varsity baseball team at Sunlake.
Helping others has always been at the heart of Coach Stambek, even when he was a little kid. Reflecting on his inspiration, he shared, ” Helping kids has always been a big thing for me growing up and kind influenced by my grandma.”
Coach Stambek is not only passionate about but his values that he uses them in baseball to be a better coach. “To be able to work on the fly,” he explained. ” If things don’t go as planned, I think being a coach and a former player it kind of helped me in the teaching field as far as if some think doesn’t work out, I can easily flip the switch and move on to the next thing.”
One of his favorite aspects of teaching and coaching is the opportunity to build good connections with his students and athletes. One of the things he said was ” I like the interactions with kids making those connections to be able to talk about their sport or the subject matter and just see their interest and how they grow.”
Before Coach Stambek was a teacher he worked in a physical therapy office and part-time in a gym. ” So it was still helping people working with people but it was kind of that but then I really wanted to work more with kids and teenagers so I got in to teaching.”
Coach Stambek’s educational journey started at Kalamazoo Valley in Michigan. After two years, he transferred to Olivet College, where he played collegiate sports, and eventually completed his degree at Western Michigan University.
Coach Stambek’s story is a telling about how he dedicates to the next generation and not as his students but in individuals finding their paths in life.
