Laila Desasaurus, a participant on Sunlake High School’s Color Guard Team had a very important rehearsal December 6th getting ready for their Winter Guard performance. They started this three hour rehearsal by first stretching, then breaking out into their sectionals where the members on their rifle line and flag line split to clean counts on separate choreography. After they cleaned counts, they all got together to work on the actual performance part of Winter Guard and create choreography to the music given. Laila said, “Being ready for a performance takes a lot of time, we’re are hoping to be ready to perform it all by early January.” This is Laila’s third year and sixth season of being on guard and she absolutely loves it. Laila said, “I love the adrenaline and excitement that comes with performing. Showing off new tricks we’ve been working on and hearing a loud audience takes away all the pain and tears that come with what we do.” Laila and the rest of her team are very committed to Color Guard they all try to practice as much as they possibly can spanning from three hours a few times a week. The Color Guard team is very excited to perform in Winter Guard this year and they are very confident that their choreography is going to be great this year.
