For the first time in three years, Sunlake High School can have a competitive cheerleading team again. With a fresh start to the program, excitement is building around what the team will accomplish. This weekend the team competed in their second competition at Hernando High School and brought home the title of first place. Zoe Marks, a senior on the cheerleading team, has been doing cheerleading for the past seven years at school and has been a team captain for six years. When asked about her thoughts on the program’s first year back, she said, “This season has been amazing—Coach Rae has already made such a big difference.” Going into this competition, the team was excited to show what they could do to improve the competition from second place to first. At the competition, Zoe said the team had, “good energy and fought for the stunts. This win really helped our confidence.” Though the team went into the season not knowing what to expect from this new program, the coach worked their hardest and it has paid off. As the season progresses, the team looks forward to building on their success and securing even more victories.
