On a chilly December evening, Sunlake High School honored their seniors during their last home game. Adia Symmonds, a senior at Sunlake, said, “I think as a group we were excited about the game.” She is going to continue her soccer career at Mississippi State University. “I’ve played soccer since I was three, I enjoy playing and watching soccer, as I have been surrounded by it my entire life. So overtime a love has grown for the sport.” Madylena Perez, another senior at Sunlake, said, “I was super excited to finally have my senior night with all my family and friends!” Madylena is also going to be playing soccer in college. “I am super excited to play college soccer and experience both the off and in season.”
The team’s performance overall was pretty good according to the two girls. “It was a Pasco County district game and one where we often get a good result,” said Adia. “I wish I had more shots on goal but besides that I played good!” said Madylena. Senior night was rather hard for them both, but they are excited to be moving on. Madylena said, “I’m sad I am leaving Sunlake but I’m leaving with no regrets!” Adia said, “I am happy to be a senior at Sunlake even though the time has flown by fast, I don’t think I could be here another year. I’ve made countless memories here and am looking forward to the next step.” It’s sad to watch our Sunlake seniors go, but it’s exciting to see them take their soccer careers to the next level.
