Teachers are like superheroes. By day, they educate today’s youth and prepare them for the trials and tribulations of the world they will enter as adults. Then when the final bell rings at the end of the day, teachers lead very different lives. This is especially true for the beloved biology teacher, Ms. Pugh.
“I don’t have a lot of free time, but when I do I spend most of my free time sitting on the couch with my cat,” Ms. Pugh said. “I’m boring, but I do like to go to the gym regularly, spend time with my two sons, and I enjoy baking cakes and cookies!”
Recently, Ms. Pugh also had the chance to travel to London with her son for two weeks. They visited all sorts of sites including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the House of Parliament, Big Ben, Tower Bridge and much more. They also got to see the changing of the guard, two musicals at the West End and they attended an authentic English tea experience, visited local markets, and even ate pastries!
“I’ve never been overseas before and had an amazing time,” Ms. Pugh said.
Though Ms. Pugh enjoyed her vacation and the opportunity to visit another country, she missed her students and was happy to return to her classroom.
“Although I had a wonderful time away, it was heartwarming to come back to my classes and see my students who were so excited to see me return,” Ms. Pugh said.
Teachers do so much for our society and without them we would be completely lost. Teachers like Ms. Pugh make learning fun, engage students, and give them a reason to show up and enjoy school. With all that they do for us, it’s important to remember that they are people too with lives and responsibilities outside of school.
