Sunlake girls is one of the major sports at Sunlake High School. Throughout the years they have done pretty well throughout their season and usually make it to Districts. Their record this year so far is 12-5 which is really good and they still have six games left. Junior Gianna Fotopoulos is playing her third year on the team currently and when asked about why she joined the team again this year she said, “I choose to play this season because despite how I felt last season, I realized there is still opportunity for more growth and I missed my team. It is all mental really and it is up to yourself to recognize how you can look at things in a different perspective and keep going.” Gianna plays point guard or shooting guard for the team because of her height, but is willing to play any position. They had a game on Monday December 16th against Springstead High School where they won 41-34. She said, “This was a good win even though we started off a little off focus, with the help and encouragement from our coach and each other, we locked in and started playing how we knew we could. Our program’s strength is our speed and defense as a whole.” Gianna hopes to make it far in playoffs and hopes to end the season well.
