Basketball is one of the most attended and exciting winter sports. Among the varsity team, Senior, Brayden Eskandari is one of the teams star players. Brayden has been “playing basketball [since] middle school” and has a passion for the sport. This year he played as center; so he has to be “able to get rebounds” and make sure his team scores. Like most sports, basketball has grueling practices that consist of “warm-ups, drills for shooting, defense, ball handling, and after that [they run] plays and scrimmages”. What keeps Brayden playing is the “adrenaline rush [he gets] during games”. When the score is close the gym erupts with noise from students, teachers, players, and parents, making it a truly exciting event you will never forget. Brayden also loves the bond he gets with the other boys on the team “as its not just about what happens on the court”. He said they hang outside of school a lot and it shows in the chemistry they have on the court. Outside of basketball Brayden also plays golf and was on the fall team for Sunlake. Brayden’s advice for people looking to make the basketball team would be to “communicate [on and off the court] and build trust [with your teamates].
