The Sunlake Girls Varsity Soccer team won a high intensity game against East Lake! An unexpected last minute goal by Adia Symmonds gave the Lady Seahawks a perfect comeback. East Lake had quick wingers so playing in a four-back allowed them to keep players wide and it gave Sunlake a great advantage.
Ivy Smalls was super excited going into the game since she knew a lot of the East Lake girls. She explained that higher pressure games “. . .are the types of games you want to play. A close competitive one to make it fun and interesting.” Ivy is always looking for ways to improve but is also proud of her performance overall. She said, “I had a good 1v1 defending moment in the first half to shield the ball out for a goal kick.”
One of Sunlake Girls Soccer’s biggest strengths is that they are midfield orientated. This allows them to make goals quicker. Not only that but one of the main reasons Sunlake Girls Soccer plays so well together is because they are close-knit friends on and off the field. Smalls exclaimed, “I love my team so anytime we step on the field together its nothing but excitement and fun!”
