Recently, Sunlake has hosted its annual Beauty and The Beast competition, where weight lifters and wrestlers have a meet and schools from all around compete to see who’s at the top. Maggie Chauncy, a senior at Sunlake, who has been in weightlifting since fall of her sophomore year, participated in the meet. She has a special love for the sport and started because a good friend of hers roped her into it, “At the time I was kind of bummed that I wasn’t participating in a sport, so when I was invited it made me excited, I’ve loved doing it ever since. the whole community is just amazing,” Maggie said. This was Maggie’s first year participating in Beauty and The Beast, even though she’d been in the sport for three years. At first, she was a little stressed but overall excited. She had a great experience saying, “I had a great time, I always love home meets because the environment is just wonderful. I just cheered on my teammates which also encouraged me to keep going. I loved watching all the wrestlers as well, it was just a great experience overall.”
