Sophomore Lila Rhodes and her family left on December 30th for their annual Blue Ridge trip and came back January 3rd. This year they couldn’t go to the usual cabin they go to as it was fully booked, but it was nice to enjoy a different atmosphere. Lila says, “the tradition is very special to me because it means getting together as a family and going to our favorite place all together.” “My favorite thing about the cabin was the view and how big the windows were in my room.” Lila loves to read in her free time, it’s one of her ways to disconnect. Her room was the perfect peaceful place to open a book and get lost in the story.
Lila appreciated the weather change and liked the cold as it gave her a good break from the hot Florida sun. Their big adventure of the week was hiking to Desoto Falls, a well-known two-mile hike, in a beautiful forest filled with creeks. To bring in the new year, Lila and her family stayed at the cabin and did sparklers. Lila enjoyed being present and looking back on 2024 memories with her family. It was a great way to kick off 2025.
