On January 14th, Key Club hosted a meeting in the cafeteria after school to discuss leadership roles and more. Sophomore Michael Lyons has been a part of Key Club since the moment he could join. Michael was anxiously waiting to see who won what leadership roles because that was the main focus of the meeting. Michael said, “Key club is a great way to help me get hours and leave a positive impact on my community with my friends.” Michael helped run an elementary school spring festival. He loved being around little kids and help create a fun environment for them. Another reason Michael enjoys Key Club is because it gives him an advantage for colleges. They like to see extracurricular activities especially when the meaning behind it is to make a difference. “My favorite events to volunteer at are sporting events”, Michael said. “I love going to see all the games and talking to all the people at the concession stand. It’s a great time.” In the future he would like to volunteer at a basketball game. Michael is looking forward to making more memories with his friends while volunteering.

About the Contributors
Hello, my name is Alexa Hemmers. I am a part of a group of new yearbook staffers as a sophomore. I enjoy writing for our school newspaper because each article will be about a different occasion, and we interview different people each time. My favorite things to do in my free time are run, go to the beach with my family and hanging out with my boyfriend and teammates. My teammates from Sunlake cross country and track are like family to me because some of us have known each other since sixth and seventh grade. I am excited to learn how to enhance my writing and construct the best yearbook filled with memories.
