The boys and girls wrestling teams came together for their senior night. They showcased and celebrated what their Seniors have been working hard for all the years they’ve been on the team. While everyone is focused on the seniors for their big night, students from other grade levels are on the team as well, helping and supporting their elder teammates. One of the underclassmen that was there to get his own perspective on Senior Night was Junior Ezikeil Johnson. In sports, Senior Night is “…a way for the team, coaches, and parents, to celebrate the seniors on their hard work.” Johnson explained. Ezekiel is a junior, so the night was very different for him. “If you weren’t a senior, you just helped set up the gym… we put up balloons, we put up poster boards that had the seniors on them, and set out the mat for the matches.” Senior night is important for the seniors obviously, but the underclassman also feel a sense of proudness. “The seniors are our friends, we’re a team and senior night is important for us to show them that we appreciate them and their commitment to the team.” Johnson and his teammates are more than glad to take a step back on senior night to congratulate and cheer on the upperclassmen and all of their years on the wrestling team.
