Sunlake Girls’ Basketball season this year is going pretty well with a record of 14-7. They are coming in hot for this year’s playoffs getting ready for an upcoming district game against Wharton High School. An important part of this year’s success is Senior Kaycie Hyde’s leadership and talent as the only senior on the team. This year, Kaycie is ranked 98th in the state for steals per game (4.5 stl/g) and 18th in Division 6A. After playing basketball for all 4 of her years, she has learned a lot and gained a lot of experience with her team. During the their game against Gulf High School, it was Kaycie’s senior night. Since she is the only senior, this night was all about her. While talking about the game, Kaycie said, “We could have definitely improved on knowing who the team’s scoring player was but other than that I feel like this was a good team win.” They ended up coming out with the win with Sunlake scoring 69 points and Gulf with 38 points. Since this is her last year, Kaycie said the biggest advice she would give to the freshmen for next year is, “Trust yourself and your teammates and to always work for what you want.” Sunlake keeps working to advance in the Postseason and end their season as far as they can.
