Sunlake High School recently held a highly successful blood drive, bringing students and staff together to support a life-saving cause. The event was well-organized, with a strong turnout of students eager to roll up their sleeves and donate. Among the participants was Coach Ricabal, a longtime blood donor with a deeply personal reason for giving. “The blood drive was very organized, and I was very happy to see many students participating,” Coach Ricabal said. “This is not my first time donating.” For over a decade, Coach Ricabal has been a dedicated blood donor, making contributions multiple times a year. His commitment stems from a personal experience that forever changed his perspective on the importance of blood donations. “I have been donating blood for 10+ years straight, a couple of times every year,” he shared. “I am happy to give and very thankful. Ten years ago, my daughter Natalia needed donations as she was going through chemo and cancer treatment. I am so thankful that, 10+ years later, she is now in remission.” Coach Ricabal’s story is a testament to how blood donations can make a real difference. His gratitude for the donations that helped his daughter fuels his desire to give back. “It’s very personal for me,” he said. “I want to give back and help someone just like it was done for my daughter.”

The blood drive at Sunlake High School not only provided an opportunity for students to contribute to their community but also highlighted the power of generosity and compassion. With role models like Coach Ricabal leading the way, many young donors are inspired to continue supporting this vital cause.
