Ashton Horvath celebrated his Senior Night for wrestling on a beautiful January day alongside his coaches, teammates, friends, and family. The Sunlake gymnasium was decorated head to toe, including banners for each senior, and there was also cake for them to enjoy. To Ashton, this night was a send-off for graduating wrestlers and an appreciation for their careers. At the end of the night everyone signed the banners that decorated the gym, and Ashton made sure to show how thankful he was for everything that everyone had done. After his matches, Ashton had reflected on his night by saying, “Senior Night makes me feel sad because I know my wrestling career is coming to an end, but it makes me more nostalgic and happy to look back and see how I gave grown, as well as the program and the people around me have grown.” After high-school, Ashton plans on going through the Fire Academy and becoming a firefighter after school. When it comes to the future, Ashton remarked that, “I want to leave an impression of hard-work on the underclassmen because I know how much wrestling can shape peoples lives.” Overall, Ashton’s presence with the Sunlake wrestling team will be remembered long after his Senior Night, and it is definite he will continue to do big things after high-school.
