For students at Sunlake High School interested in becoming doctors, nurses, pharmacists, or other healthcare professionals, the Pre-Health Club is providing a place to learn, connect and prepare for the future.
The club is open to all students curious about the medical field. It offers guest speakers and resources to help members explore different healthcare careers. Student Brooke Martin, a sophomore, said, “I’ve always been interested in medicine, but I wasn’t sure where to start.” One of the club’s main goals is to help students get involved in the community. The club also connects students with professionals in the medical field who share their experience and offer advice about college and career planning. It can be interesting and educational for club members to hear from the personal experiences of current professionals.
Since joining the club, Brooke has already attended the club’s first meeting, where students learned about different medical professionals and heard from a local nurse about what it’s like to work in healthcare. She is excited to get involved and hopes the club will help her make some future decisions. Brooke stated, “I’m still figuring out what I want to do in the field, but this club is helping me.”
