Junior Anna Seidelman recently went on an AP Environmental Science field trip to Crossbar Ranch, where she and her classmates got to explore the local ecosystem up close. One of the highlights for Anna was putting nets in the water and discovering all sorts of creatures. “We found some fish and some newts,” Anna shared. “It was really cool to see all the animals living in a place that’s basically our backyard.”
The trip was a perfect fit for AP Environmental Science, which is all about learning more about nature. The group also got to learn about different animals, including burrowing owls—something Anna found especially exciting. “I didn’t expect to see so many,” she said.
While riding around the property in a truck, the group got up close to different types of cows and birds and even drove through a tree conservation area. “It was really amazing to see all the different levels of tree growth in the forests,” Anna explained.
Overall, Anna had a great time discovering the variety of animals thriving just out of sight in the local environment.
