Once known as a TikTok star, who gained over 16 million followers and 26 million on all social media platforms, Alex Warren has stepped into the music industry with his debut album “You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1)”. The album, released in September 2024, delivered a collection of songs that evoke emotion and deep feelings. The California-born singer-songwriter had released a few singles up until his official debut album. I was very impressed by the quality of the songs for his debut album. The songs were very enjoyable and catchy and caught my attention with the raw talent and amazing voice of Alex Warren.
Alex Warren has a story unique compared to others. He became a very popular TikTok creator in the year 2020. At that time, COVID-19 had just begun to hit the U.S. and at that time TikTok grew exponentially. Once TikTok grew, a group of popular TikTokers came together called “The Hype House”. Alex joined this group along with his girlfriend and now wife Kouvr Annon. In 2021, he released his debut song, a tear-jerking ballad “One More I Love You”, which focused on his father who unfortunately passed when he was young and his mother who passed in October of that year. When transitioning from TikTok fame to the music industry, Alex Warren successfully used his platform to reach a broader audience. A song from his album titled “Burning Down” got very popular on social media with over 16,000 short form videos on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. The song also maintained a strong presence by being in the top 50 of the UK Official Charts.
The album’s theme focuses on personal growth, self-compassion, and offers advice to younger people that Alex Warren wishes he could have shared with his younger song like he states in the song “You’ll Be Alright, Kid”. Specifically, he sings “I wish I had the number to my younger self
I’d pick up the phone and say, “You’re only twelve, and you’ve lost more than most people do, you don’t know it now, but there’s still more to lose”. These lines hit deep especially to someone who may have lost a parent as well. For someone’s first album it is very well written and performed perfectly.
Some of the albums standout tracks include “Burning Down” which has a very good and strong melody and emotional lyrics. Another track “Heaven Without You” is a heartfelt song that is about love and loss. “Before You Leave Me” also stands out with its personal message and amazing chorus. On another note, some songs such as “Yard Sale” and “Chasing Shadows” aren’t as good quality as the others and don’t deliver as strong of a message which leaves those songs less memorable. Compared to other albums in the pop and singer-songwriter genre, Alex Warrens debut album does an amazing job and gives a lasting impression.
Overall, “You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1)” is an impressive debut album that showcases the talent and potential of Alex Warren. His storytelling and emotional depth in his songs make this album unique and worth listening to for fans.
