One of the many sports we offer here at Sunlake is our amazing soccer teams. The girls’ team excelled this season and made it to States’ Final Four, competing against some of the best high school and club teams in the state. For anyone, this is a huge honor and something to be insanely proud of.
That’s the case with Senior Madylena Perez. Madylena described it as “…the best experience ever,” from the atmosphere, to actually playing. Even though all the girls at final four “…play club soccer,” which is more competitive than standard high school soccer, Madylena and the team still showed up and did their best out on the field. Madylena said her and the girls had “…a very cool experience,” despite being in a completely “…different atmosphere.”
The team was sent home after a hard fought match against Bertram Trail, a definitely worthy opponent against our Seahawks. At the end of the day, students must look back on their time in high school and take those experiences with them into the next step of their lives. Madylena is ready to play during college and she hopes to “…get good minutes,” which is sure to come easy because of her time spent with her team over the past four years.
