Surrounded by teammates, coaches, and family, Sunlake High School senior Katie Mackleer officially signed to play soccer at the University of South Carolina Aiken. This moment marked the culmination of years of dedication to the sport she has loved since she was just two years old. For Mackleer, this next step is about more than just soccer—it’s about new experiences and personal growth. She looks forward to stepping onto the field at USC Aiken, but she’s also excited for the fresh start that college brings. The opportunity to meet new people, explore a different environment, and challenge herself both academically and athletically is something she’s been looking forward to for a long time. Though her signing represents the beginning of a new chapter, Mackleer hasn’t forgotten the journey that got her here. From early morning practices to tough losses and hard-earned victories, every moment has shaped her into the player she is today. More importantly, it’s the people she has met along the way—coaches who have pushed her to be better, teammates who have become lifelong friends, and family who have supported her unconditionally—that have made the experience so meaningful. “I’m grateful for everyone I have met along the journey,” Mackleer said, knowing that their encouragement and belief in her have played a huge role in her success.

As she prepares for her transition to college soccer, she’s eager to continue growing, both on and off the field.
